The Atom has also been able to shrink others down with him if the situation calls for it for example when he shrunk himself, Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Plastic Man to repair the links between seven shattered subatomic particles, or shrinking Steel, SuperGirl and SuperBoy to directly treat a Kryptonite tumor in Superman's body. However the drawback to this ability was how relatively limited it was; Initially anyone other then Ray who was shrunk would explode after two minutes if not returned to their normal size, although later on he was able to extend the time to one hour. Centuries ago, Chay-ara and her lover Prince Khufu where killed by Hath-set with a knife forged from Nth Metal. Now Miss Kendra Saunders was a young woman who committed suicide. When Her soul left her body, Her grandfather's first cousin Shiera Hall the 1st Hawk Girl entered Saunders body making Kendra a walk in so to speak. Her grandfather, former OSS agent an globe-trotting adventurer Speed Saunders recognized this due in part to a change in eye color and encourage his granddaughter embrace her destiny as the "new" Hawkgirl. HawkGirl owes her powers to a belt of Nth Metal, which is native to the planet Thanagar.
